Man who threatened girlfriend with machete sentenced to 15 years; case ties to Hillsboro

Washington County Circuit Court Judge Erik Buchér sentenced Armando Duran-Maya to 15 years in prison on July 21 for domestic violence offenses including threatening his girlfriend with a machete, calling it one of the most egregious cases he had ever seen. Duran-Maya's criminal history includes a 2023 Hillsboro incident in which he was reported carrying a loaded gun and threatening family members.
